Hi guys! Here’s the updated version on my full one-stop guide on sponsorships! The first version was made over a year ago so as I’ve learned more, I also wanted to update the guide! I’ve added more influencer platforms, negotiation methods, definitions, invoicing platforms, and invoicing methods, as well as clearer walkthrough photos!
Also, I have an associated VIDEO for v1 of the guide, along with some visual guides like walking you through websites. I wanted to keep everything as accessible as possible, so all the information in this guide is free, but access to the video is $10 (ya girl moved to LA and it’s expensive out here T_T). Thanks for understanding!
“Sponsorships” is an umbrella term used to cover any type of agreement between a creator or influencer and a company, in which the creator promotes a brand, product, program, or anything else the company creates. Sponsorships are a great way to earn money as a creator, and can be a large source of income if done correctly! There are different types of sponsorships, and here are the breakdowns
affiliate - This is when a company sponsors a creator or influencer to promote a brand or product to drive sales. The creator earns a percentage of each sale made using their special link or code
alignment - to which degree your niche and audience align with that of a brand. Brands want to find creators that align well with them, as that will make for higher conversions
compensation - the payment or benefit you as a creator receive for providing the brand with said deliverables. Beware, as compensation doesn’t always refer to money, and can be in the form of products or services as well
competitors - any company that are in the same category as the sponsor, such as if the sponsor was Corsair (a peripheral company), you likely wouldn’t be able to work with Razer, HyperX, etc., as they are also peripheral companies
CPM - stands for clicks per mil, and it’s used to measure the rate advertisers pay for every 1000 engagements. For instance, if your CPM was $0.05, you will get paid 5 cents for every 1000 views on the YouTube ad.
deliverable - the piece produced to promote a product or brand, such as a tiktok video, instagram post, twitter shoutout, 1 hour livestream, etc
engagement rate - a metric (typically a percentage) that refers to how much your content gets interacted with in the form of likes, comments, shares, etc
exclusivity - this is when the company wants you to not work with competitors for x amount of time
invoice - a bill or document that is sent from seller to buyer to show proof of purchase, with a detailed list of the items or services provided and for what cost
likeness - the usage of your face and branding in their content
media kit - a resume of sorts showing your demographic, analytics, and follower counts as a creator
